Sign the Petition - A Rainbow Crosswalk for Kelowna
Our city is a wonderful place. From the weather, to the culture, to the people, I think we can all agree it's one of (of not THE) best places to live in Canada. So that's why I think it's time our city do something fun to celebrate its diversity!
Since 1978 the rainbow flag has been an international symbol of diversity for the LGBT community. Each colour in the flag holds its own meaning as well. Red is for life, orange is for healing, yellow is for sunlight, green is for nature, blue is for harmony, and purple is for spirit.
Today the rainbow flag is a vibrant sign of society's ever expanding acceptance of the LGBT community, and is recognized as such the world over. Recently the city of Vancouver installed a permanent fixture of the rainbow flag as a colourful crosswalk in the long LGBT friendly Davie Street Village.
With the equality movement top of mind more than ever, it's important that momentum be maintained in pushing the message of love and acceptance for people of all backgrounds. A public display of the rainbow flag in a prominent location is an excellent way for our city to say "We see you, we hear you, we are with you."
Please help the city of Kelowna become the next community to publicly support its LGBT community, because love is love, and a little colour never hurt anyone!
Sign the petition right here, and much love to you an yours!
