Album Review

In the Mind of Jamie Cullum is essentially a mixtape album put together by the pianist/vocalist himself for the purposes of turning you on to the artists who turn him on. Featured here are such eclectic cuts as Donavon's "Get Thy Bearings," Nina Simone's "I Think It's Going to Rain Today," Mark Murphy's "Stolen Moments," Clipse and Pharrell Williams' "Mr. Me Too," and others. Also included are two previously unreleased tracks by Cullum himself. While the album is somewhat of a mixed bag, it nonetheless reveals Cullum to be a sophisticated music aficionado whose broad taste seems to jibe with his own crossover jazz/pop aesthetic.
