Each volume of the Pure R&B series has been quite timely, providing up-to-date documentations of R&B and hip-hop singles that have broken into the European mainstream. They are also quite broad, despite the misleading title, with well over 30 tracks spread across two discs. In effect, the series is perfectly suited for casual fans who tend not to pick up single-artist albums -- and since there's such a wealth of material at hand in each instance, odds are good that those who stay up on new releases will be able to plug some gaps. Highlights on the fourth volume include
Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious,"
Mystikal's "Shake Ya Ass,"
Craig David's "Key to My Heart,"
Next's "Too Close,"
Eve's "Who's That Girl?," and
Mya's "Case of the Ex."
