Dancer and Los Angeles native
Carmit Bachar (b. September 4, 1974) is the only member of
the Pussycat Dolls held over from the days when the multi-platinum-selling pop group was still just a burlesque act on the Sunset Strip. Choreographer
Robin Antin began recasting the group into more of a pop/R&B-styled group circa 2003, and the newly configured
Dolls issued their debut album,
PCD, in 2005. Prior to
the Dolls,
Bachar competed internationally as a rhythmic gymnast and placed fifth in the Olympic rhythmic gymnastics trials in 1992. She also served as a backup dancer for various artists, including
Janet Jackson and
Beyoncé, and had bit roles in movies like 13 Going on 30.
