Residents near Chute Lake allowed back home

4/29/2012

At least 3 dozen people in the South Okanagan are allowed to head back home.

They've been staying at hotels or with friends after authorities evacuated 47 homes in Indian Rock and Naramata.

There were fears of flash flooding in those areas.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen says water levels are going down and the danger is not immediate.

Despite giving the all-clear, officials still want residents to be careful around creeks and streams.

An evacuation order was called off Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm.

It came on Friday, as heavy rain and melting snow pack had water cresting the banks of Chute Lake.
