Crews douse fire in Rutland basement suite

A kitchen fire has forced 3 people from their home in Rutland.
Firefighters were called to a house on Leathead Road just before 6:00am Saturday morning on reports of smoke coming from a basement suite.
Crews used 3 fire engines and managed to beat the flames back before they could spread.
Authorities say the fire was probably an accident and does not appear suspicious, though the investigation will continue.
Emergency Support Services is looking after the 3 people who lived in the suite.
There were no injuries.
