Ensign Cup returns for 30th celebration

6/8/2012

The 30th Annual Ensign Cup takes place this weekend in Kelowna.

The event is played every year in honour of Rusty Ensign, a former Kelowna Crows rugby player who broke his neck back in 1982.

The injury left Ensign a quadriplegic and he's blown away by the years of support.

"For lack of a better word, honoured that they still come out and continue to play in recognition of not just my injury but that I've picked myself up and gotten on with my life."

Saturday's match-up will feature an inter-squad game between the Kelowna Crows over 30's and under 30's.

Last year, the under 30's took home the Ensign Cup.

Game starts at 4 o'clock at City Park with money raised going towards Kelowna Youth Rugby.
