Kelowna RCMP officer in court

A Kelowna RCMP officer charged with assaulting two people during two separate incidents is in court answering to those charges.

Geoff Mantler faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm for allegedly assaulting Manjit Singh Bhatti during an arrest in August of 2010.

Mantler will then be back in court November 26th answering to an assault against Buddy Tavares.

Mantler was caught on video allegedly kicking the 51 year-old Tavares as he knelt on the ground beside his truck during an arrest in January of 2011.

Mantler has been suspended without pay.

He is a three year member of the RCMP.
