Phase 3 of upgrades to Gellatly Road in West Kelowna is going back to the drawing board.
Council decided to delay the project another construction season just days before work was slated to start.
Mayor Doug Findlater says council had concerns over parking.
"Some of the parking that would have been lost is parking that is unsafe now because people park partly on the road and partly on the shoulder. The other thing about parking I would say is that it's only a few days a year that parking is at a premium down there."
Findlater was disappointed the council decided to table the project and start over from scratch.
"Quite frankly, those funds could of been allocated to another much needed project within the district related to roads upgrades or sidewalks. I'm a bit disappointment this has happened."
Cost of the original design was $100,000.
