Traffic along the Okanagan Connector Highway 97C was snarled Sunday morning after an RV Motorhome parked along the shoulder burst into flames.
The fire happened several kilometres west of the Trepanier Creek Bridge shortly before 9:00am this morning, forcing the closure of a 3 kilometre stretch westbound.
"Initially we weren't called because there was no endangerment to the nearby forest but Forestry did respond because it was their area but when it started getting into the grass and the bush area they asked for our assistance," says Kerry Klonteig, Assistant Fire Chief with West Kelowna Fire Department.
West Kelowna Firefighters responded with a Tender and Rescue Truck to help extinguish the fire.
The RV Motorhome was completely destroyed by the fire, the cause has yet to be determined.
There were no injuries and the Highway has now been re-opened to traffic.
